Follicular Lymphoid Hyperplasia. The lesions are raised, flat or nodular folds, and are often associated with gastric ulceration. The etiology of this condition remains unclear, but Helicobacter pylori infection has been implicated. Microerosions are frequently seen with magnifying endoscopes.

Endoscopic View of Follicular Lymphoid Hyperplasia. In follicular gastritis, gastric acidity is significantly reduced, but can be normalized by eradication of H. pylori. It can thus be speculated that inflammatory cytokines or H. pylori-infection induced prostaglandins might strongly inhibit gastric acid secretion in follicular gastritis.
